Personal brand is the way you manage your uniqueness to gain competitive advantage in your niche market. It starts with discovery of your own unique gifts, developing the skills, communicating the skills and managing the skills for maximum results.

Every skyscraper that will last always has solid foundation upon which the superstructures will stand. Today we will be discussing six pillars that hold, support strong personal brand.

1.Coach, Coach: For any successful personal brand, there is need for a coach who can help push you ahead; it is amazing that great sportsmen/women have coaches throughout their lifetimes. When one is not an expert in anything and one realizes that one is better at having the skill than not having it, wisdom demands that one seeks for help of a coach. Not many coaches charge out of pocket expenses. Look for one that the size of your pocket can handle and talk to him/her. Also there are many brand experts who want to help, learn to ask.

2. Develop a plan: check every strong personal brand, they have developed a long time plan of where their personal brand is going. Having examined their strengths and weaknesses, they take advantage of relevant opportunities presented to them. Work with your brand expert to develop a plan, you may need to change the tactics along the way but just have something you are working with.

3. Position: positioning is important. Know where your niche is and work on your personal brand positioning for as long as you live. The brand You must be positioned in a way that makes it visible to the right market. Do not remain in obscurity. Position yourself as an authority that has what it takes to deliver.

4. Know your market: haphazard shooting of gun in various directions is a waste of time and effort. Do not try to reach every market. Know your target audience and go after them. Not everyone will accept your offering, they may not need it. Understand the demography of your market, their aspirations, emotional queues among others and give them what they need per time.

5. Maintain your brand: always remember your brand. Keep it at the left, right and centre of every thing you are doing. Never forget your brand at home. Take your brand with you everywhere you go. Do not misrepresent yourself. Do not dress like a messenger when you an executive.

6. Do not confuse your brand: always be natural. Be yourself. There is no need for you to be sounding like a ‘been to’ just because you have traveled out of your country ones. Authenticity still rules in this market. Do not try to be like Jones, remain who you are.
