brand-multiplicationIts great to have a personal brand and it does help a lot. There are lots of business advantages accruable to personal branding. However, the danger I have noticed is that many may make it a ‘me too, look at me game’. This is selfish, ego promoting and it is a disease that is terminal in nature. It is just a matter of time.

Personal branding is like a desire for having great riches. If a goal is not set for the use of the money before it comes, abuse will be visible.

My appeal therefore is that we do not make a goal of personal branding to be fame. Fame should be accidental. Some thing we stumble upon without meaning it.For a personal brand that will be effective, let us think about the followings”

1. What will I give to others: thinks in terms of giving? The hands of a giver are always above. It never fails. Give something valuable.

2. How will I add value: People want people who will add value to their lives not parasites. As long as your brand is not a parasite on others, you will command attention.

3. Push others up: Personal branding is not all about you, it is about giving a helping hands to others. What are you doing to help give others a push?

4. Release, do not hoard knowledge: The knowledge you think others may not have access to will be made available by others to the same community you are riding upon. Why not be a thought leadership brand that will expose that knowledge. The interesting part is that when you release one it helps you to have space left to look for more. A knowledge shared even makes you to understand it better as giver. Believe me it is true.
