Today is children’s’ day. According to my online research the International Children’s Day had its origin in Turkey in 1920 (April 23, 1920) and later in the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925.It was first celebrated worldwide in October 1955, under the sponsorship of International Union for Child Welfare in Geneva. The idea of a Universal Children’s Day was mooted by Rubab Mansoor grade 8 and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954. Moazzem and Abass helped and contributed a lot in this. Universal Children’s Day takes place on November 20 annually. First proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954, it was established to encourage all countries to institute a day, firstly to promote mutual exchange and understanding among children and secondly to initiate action to benefit and promote the welfare of the world’s children. It was also chosen as the day to celebrate childhood. Children’s Day is celebrated on May  27 every year in Nigeria. Because of the plethora of challenges facing students in our nation which includes constant teachers’ strike, over crowded class among other I am compelled to write this article. Today my heart goes to average student, who can not gain admission because of lack of space, numerous graduates without a job so I decided to help with how to reduce this damage if I can not eliminate it. Today’s post is therefore focused on personal branding for students.

As early as possible students need to develop and build their personal branding. This is already going on in developed world. Right from high school individuals must begin to promote his/her personal uniqueness. Every one wants to be associated with success so if you have created a strong personal brand online that can distinguish you from your peers, you can always have a better edge. As soon as individual enters university or college, he/she needs to start promoting the brand, be guided in the choice of courses to take, must note that certain curricula activities by the university or department are not just for fun, he must take active part in coordinating some of the activities, develop strong leadership qualities, as well as team building skills among others. Working as an intern during holidays will also go a long way to help you prepare for the future instead of just lazing about.

Aside from this it is given that you already discover yourself and you are working with a goal in mind of where you want to go. Remember the greatest discovery you can ever make is the path of self discovery. To sharpen your mind and skill, do have a good knowledge of sociology, psychology, relevant technology and keep records of every endorsement, testimonial you have garnered along the line. Develop relationship ability; connect with Alumni in your extra curricula activities too. These all help when you leave school.
