Every seemingly difficult task must has a better and easy way to do it when compare to other routes. Labouring hard may not justify result. Knowing how to do it smartly may guarantee lifelong happiness. In a recent conversation with some social media and content Managers from varied organizations, I was asked ‘’what can I suggest as ABC of a successful social/digital media activities’ success?’’  While the following may not be exhaustive, they appear to me as sharp and handy stuff that will help anyone in the field.

Humility: Pride destroys fast. No matter how verse you are in knowledge couple with years of hands-on experience, you must be humble enough to acknowledge you do not know it all. The environment itself is also dynamic and keeps changing. So keep your ego out. A starter can offer you useful advice that can help. Be humble

Vulnerability: Being vulnerable is ability to absorb insult. Many will do it deliberately while some may not know their approach is rude. Being vulnerable also means you should be open enough to readers and community members. They need to see the human angle of the brand. Exposing mistakes and lessons you have learnt may encourage someone to bond with you. Never promote the ‘glory episodes’ of the brands. Show when you had difficulties and it took extra strength to move on.

High level of intelligence: This environment thrives on knowledge. Stale knowledge will not do. Constantly boost your intelligence level in many fields. Not only this, you must learn how to adapt and benchmarks stories from other industries and life endeavours.

Nose on the ground/insight: As we grow, many lost touch with the grassroot. That has been the undoing of many top level managers. While we are not suggesting you do your subordinate’s jobs, having a nose for underground information can help you achieve more than just relying on what your colleagues at the same level tell you.

Flexibility: Many a set like concrete, nothing can change their opinions in certain area(s).  This environment you are in is highly volatile. Technology, Software, APPs, Google Algorithms and many other issues keep re-occurring like a thunder during stormy rain. If you are not flexible you may fail.
