Twitter, Twitter Community In Nigeria, Twitter and Nigeria market, Twitter formations and tribes in Nigeria, Twitter performance in Nigeria, Leading Twitter Activist in NigeriaSome of the best values of Twitter are its immediacy and news on the goal. We must commend the team behind this initiative as they keep refining the wheel. Twitter team has also gotten all major actors in the world to join its platform. Initially twitter was not part of online communication tools, but since 2011 it has gained wider acceptability. Great thank to National election 2011, youth activism couple with aftermath of ‘Enough is Enough and OccupyNigeria’ campaigns.

After these two major campaigns, Nigeria twitter community began to gain notoriety. This also throws up major influencers and tribal warlords. Some of these influencers have become household names while some are stronger among tribe members. Some of these twitter tribal warlords had confessed they have gained global prominence, met with high profile people they never thought they could meet and more importantly their financial muscles have been strengthened. But as the case is, some of them are made before they came on board. The additional benefit to this group is that they have enjoyed stronger brand engagement and awareness.

So today, we will examine some of the major twitter tribes in Nigeria and their major influencers. We must also note that some of the most engaged and influential twitter tribal warlords do have other strong and virile online presence through which they push content. These personal content platforms also help in fortifying their bases.

Policy and governance: This tribe has gained frontline position because of the situation Nigerians find themselves. The country has witnessed bad policy formulation and implementation, ineptitude in policy and governance. The country is blessed with natural resources that can go round under principled management. This has been lacking and corruption has not been tackled headlong. A former Vice President of World Bank, Minister of education in Nigeria Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) seems to carry the day and enjoy leadership position. She is an avowed good governance preacher whose word hits deep.Other active leaders are Japheth Omojuwa (@omojuwa) and Tolu Ogunlesi (@toluogunlesi)

Politics, current affairs: This tribe is premised on and gained prominence through mismanagement of Political structure and lopsidedness in political space in Nigeria. The tribal warlords here are Omojuwa(@omojuwa) Tolu ogunlesi(@toluogunlesi)

Relationship and Business development: Many have issues in their relationships, so any help which seems to address fundamental here is often welcomed. A relatively new comer but household name in Brand management industry, Leke Alder (@leke_Alder) seems to be ruling the tribe. Leke Alder’s letters and JesusMBA tag are trending almost every weekend.

Information technology and Internet governance: This tribe is led by Gbegan Sesan (@gbengasesan), a social entrepreneur and techy savvy individual who started out while in University.

Environment, Women and children right issue: this twitter tribe has senator Bukola Saraki (@bukolasaraki), Nike Adeyemi (@nikeadeyemi), Toyin Saraki (@Toyinsaraki) Esther Agbarakwe(@estherclimate) African Child Right(@africanchildrig) and @Toyin01 are also coming up

Online journalism and media: This tribe is dominated by Tolu Ogunlesi and he is really making a big effect. We also have Premium Times, Sahara Reporters and many Prints and Electronic media like @mobilepunch, @ChannelsTv

Leadership/Religious/Motivation: this tribe has a lot of leading religious/ Non profit leaders as champions. We therefore have Pastor E. A Adeboye, Sam Adeyemi (@Sam_adeyemi), Poju Oyemade, Taiwo Odukoya(@pastortaiwo) among others.

Entertainment Industry: This industry has lots of frontline artistes competing for tribal warlords. A popular and frontline comedian known as Alibaba(@ALIBABAGCFR) is an acknowledged leader. Other music artistes like Naeto C, Banky W, Peter and Paul Okoye, Whizkid and Don Jazy, Omotola Ekeinde known as Omosexy, Mercy Johnson and controversial Tonto Dike are making waves. We cannot forget BellNaija, a popular and leading entertainment platform

Soft sell and celebrity Gossip: This group leaders are Linda ikeji(@lindaikeji), Olori Super Girl (olorisupergirl), Olufamous etc

I wannabe: Aside from the above, there is ‘I wannabes’. These are small groups of insignificant twitter clans who want to be popular by all means without following the due process or cannot wait to walk the rope. One of these include young girls who post nude pictures and others who impersonate notable brands in Nigeria.
