Each passing day many people keep postponing what they know is right. They keep wishing, hoping that the dream they have will just be delivered to them. It is only in the realm of magic or dream that such happens. Everyone that excels has learnt how to wake up from sleep and hit the road.
Many wonder while quacks are taking over their trades. The good boys do not always marry the beautiful babes in town. The good boys have great confidence in their physique and believe the girls will come running to them. Unfortunately while the few beautiful girls who care are trying to run to the handsome boys, bad and ugly boys run towards them, engage them in a conversation, care much by cleaning their legs and remove the stone on their ways. With little efforts and more, the beautiful girls often change their mind and stay with bad boys. The analysis above in this context is more of a brand and client relationship.
We have seen many great and knowledgeable individuals and brands that stand higher chances of succeeding but care less about future clients either because they have enough customers today or because they feel they need not run after new cheese. They will rather stay alone, hoard the great knowledge they can share to position themselves better. While doing these, some quacks, amateurs are out there playing the big boys through passionate knowledge sharing. These amateurs or upcoming brands may not be important or in high profile today but they are positioning for tomorrow. When tomorrow comes will your brand still be relevant? Here is what to do.
Study the social media plateau: It is time to study social media plateau so you can become active. The days of old brigade of using or investing heavily in advert alone will soon be over. It is time to create and own your own media. This may not be easy but that is where the future is.
Take a position: There are many roads leading to success. Not just one way. Find your path and position. In pushing content I must let you know there are days you will not want to hit the button, or when you may ask for instant reward of the efforts so far. Remember when the first rain starts after a long drought there may be no flood. The rain needs to be persistent to create a flood way. Remember also, this arena is like a marriage relationship. Many who had stayed long in it know it is not every day they wake up that they are feeling horny. But commitment to each other often prevails. Do not give up when it appears you are not making headway. You have a right to reassess your strategy but not to give up. Especially if you are a start up brand. What appears hard today may look insignificant in the next five years.
Spread, spread and spread: Do not stay in one place expecting today’s customers to rush to your door. Many frontline successful people here make every effort to remain on the radar of their market. They market themselves, their skills in a socially acceptable way. They are willing to help. They are willing to answer questions from their community especially those who appear to be insignificant and cannot give them back value for money today. Time and tide do change and such insignificant people often become power brokers. I had lost count of how many communication students around the world who had contacted me for help in their researches. Sometimes I do not feel like but I had gone all the way to assist even though we never met.
The bad and the ugly boys know they do not have the chances to sweep the beautiful girls off their feet if they do nothing while the handsome, big brands think they have what it takes to marry any lady of their choices. If you are the bad and ugly (unknown) brand today, get on the social media, roll your shirt and stick to it no matter how long it takes. You have a chance I tell you again you do have a chance. If you do it excellently, you will meet with traditional media guys who will give you coverage even when you do not ask for it. Before you know it, your brand will hit the limelight. But do not forget to add other necessary skills along the way in preparation for your stardom.
