That is if they have opportunity to resurrect now. For every organization and especially Non- profit, there is now ample opportunity to gain speed if the mission is genuine and has a driven force behind it.

Just in a decade plus, can you imagine explosive growth of digital media? We now have geo-specific and global platforms. Many of which allow free entrance or next to nothing payment. The magnitude of population that can be reached is beyond human comprehension. The phenomenal growth in the word of mouth advantage couple with the speed at which information flow are pointers to some of the benefits of digital tools. The impact of SmartPhones and other Mobile devices when properly used to organization’s advantage will change its fortune. Imagine over five billion population that is now connected to the internet. Think about over One Billion FaceBook users. What about Millions on twitter and Linkedin? Many organizations are now experimenting and taking advantage of these tools.

Unfortunately many Non-profits here are still waiting for the right time. In this light, we will like to consider some opportunities both small and Multinational Non-profit can annex in social media.

There are opportunities in digital platforms. Non-Profit can either play with paid media or owned/earned media. Ability to sit down and do proper cost analysis of which to use will help in making right choices. Fund availability is also a point to consider at different stage of your growth.

Track opinion: opinions of every stakeholder are very important to the success of any Non-profit cause. While the owner is not obliged to take all of them, knowing what people and stakeholders feel toward your cause is essential. Several online platforms have surveys opportunity to track these opinions. There are also designated survey platforms which are sometimes free.

Spread your achievement: no one lights a candle and put it under a bushel. The attention span and memory of people are so short now. There is need to showcase what you have achieved. This becomes essential if your projects are donor funded. Ability to promote the good use of their hard earned money will trigger further interest among their families and friends as well as other unconnected potentials.

Push for better change: at some points, many will require the help of traditional media houses to help push for limelight in the direction of their cause. Today even if that is not forthcoming, the online media can help you make faster progress. When this is achieved, many traditional media houses will cover your activities for free.

Get global attention: The internet, technology and the World Wide Web make global attention and attraction for your cause possible. That is if you know how to properly annex the tools. Take time to study these tools and take instant actions that will guarantee a better performance.

Use it to strengthen your story: Story sells. Everyone wants to connect with great story. The good thing is that every organization has a story. This is especially so for Cause institution established to meet a perceived need. Digital tools offer untold opportunities to tell your story well.

Strategic relationship: When a snake crawls around alone, it is easier for it to be killed by any small boy. But when snakes move in groups, they can create fear in the hearts of human beings. Solo voice can be easily subsumed. But when the voices are joined together strategically, the right people listen. Digital tools can help many Non-profits to forge strategic alliance that help.
