Bassey, BBNaija, Ebuka, Brand positioning in Reality showBig Brother Nigeria popularly known as Big Brother Naija is a reality show with lots of drama and funny housemates. Our focus here though is not on the intrigue or relevance of the reality show but on how ?to protect and position your brand irrespective of the environmental challenges and dirty politics around the brand.

Bassey is a young man who was brought into the game after a week the reality show started. He was brought in with another seemingly strong female brand in person of Debby Rice. Bassey left no one in doubt as soon as he came in into the game. He has a strong personality with a mind to play the game without destroying or staining the brand he has built. He is full of energy and tactical. He did not allow his emotion to take him far ?away ?from what his brand principle demand. He refused to play the dirty game. Though occasional because of the rules of the game he had to play the game as it is but ?he also stayed on ?his strong value. Bassey is a young man who has respect for himself, his personality, womanhood as well as others.

Bassey may seem heartless or without drifting emotion but his personality shown brightly. Throughout his stay in the Big Brother Naija, Bassey demonstrated a high sense of value and responsibility, at least to a certain degree. Bassey may appear to many as lacking in ?tact and good knowledge of who to pitch his tent with which Efe seems to know how to do well. Despite this ?Bassey’s intelligence and strong determination exemplified in the house showed it is possible no matter how dirty the environment is, a brand can still remain itself if there is a value and a foundation built on conviction.

Respect for others’ space, considerations for other housemates’ emotions made his brand attained a level of standard he would be leaving behind.

What are the good lessons we can pick from Bassey’s brand?.

Have a brand’s principle and value: without principle and values it is easier to become enmeshed in the dirty rivers flowing around you.

Be focused: Focus keeps you going. Knowing the direction you want to go gives or strengthens a level of resolve. Being focused keeps the brand going and help guides against misbehaviours.

Resolve to keep your brand integrity and reputation: Your brand reputation and level of integrity are social capital. When you trade them off, you will pay dearly for them.

It is not all about winning but attitude: Sometimes you may not win, but be sure to have the right brand attitude which can sustain the brand all the way. Attitude is everything.
